Darlington - Daniel V. Hampton, 86 died Monday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette, where he had been a patient for a short time. He was born March 17, 1884 in Montgomery County to Martin D. and Rebecca Ellen Booher Hampton. On March 14, 1911 he married Lena Goss at Montgomery County. Mr. Hampton was a resident of Darlington for 41 years where he farmed in the St. James Lutheran Church area. During WWI he worked in a defense plant at Frankfort. He was a member of the former St. James Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge at Darlington and Montgomery county Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Cox and two brothers, Bert Hampton and Lon Hampton. Surviving are his widow; a son, Floyd M. Hampton; two grandsons, Dan E. and Dave W. Hampton; all of Darlington; two granddaughters, Mrs. Don Aripoli of Marshall, Minn and Miss Catherine Cox of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Willard Anderson of Darlington and a great grandson, Matthew Joseph Airpoli of Marshall, Minn, one niece and one nephew. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home at Darlington by Rev. Howard Markem and Rev. John Stacy. Burial in St. James Lutherna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
